Born in a family of musicians, Rafael Mollá Penadés started his music studies at the age of six. He was very soon interested in composition and also fascinated by the world of piano performance. He attended the Professional School of Music in Almansa and the Conservatory of Music in Alicante. He obtained the final degree prize in French Horn Studies and an honorific mention for his piano studies.
He is a qualified teacher for piano, percussion, french horn, music theory and chamber music.
Dealing with piano, his main instrument, his teachers have been Luís Alberto Ruiz, Jacobo Ponce and Ramsi Yassa, with whom he achieved the “Diplôme d’Enseignement” in L’École Normal de Musique in Paris.
As a pianist, he debuted with the Gaspar Cassadó Orchestra in the Palau de la Música in Valencia. In 2005 he obtained the second prize in the IV International Piano Competition from Alcoi.
As a composer, his works for piano include sonatas, preludes, etudes and other pieces. His work “Fantasia para piano” wined the XVII Jose Iturbi International Piano Competition from Valencia in September 2010. This work was also chosen as a commissioned work by this contest.
As a teacher, he has worked in several Schools of Music, teaching different levels and subjects. Some of these Schools of Music are the “Conservatori Superior Joaquin Rodrigo” in Valencia, the “Conservatorio Superior Oscar Esplá” and the “Conservatorio de Danza”, both in Alicante, as well as Conservatories of Music in Catarroja, Requena, Dénia and Elx.
Nowadays, he works as a piano teacher in the ” Conservatori Professional Mestre Vert” in Carcaixent.
